Republicans are more determined than ever to get to the bottom of a fraudulent document that was posted on social media about Sen. Chris Duenas.

The post alleges that Duenas was attempting to take money away for teacher pay raises and use it instead for his school repair bill.

An angry Duenas reacted to the post during last Tuesday's emergency legislative session, shortly after he was made aware of it.

"This is a lie. This is a straight-up lie," he asserted. "This amendment has never been proferred and I want every news media to report there's a damn liar either in this body or an evil-doer outside of this body. And if I find out, and I get information that anybody in this August body, this distinguished 37th Guam Legislature, put this garbage out, they will be facing an ethics complaint, post haste."

Duenas later identified Julian Janssen, the head of the "progressive democrats" as someone who helped spread the post online.

We spoke with Janssen who said he didn't create the bogus amendment. He also said it was sent to him, but he couldn't remember who.

He also declined to say whether it could have been someone from the legislature.

Meanwhile, Sen.Tom Fisher suspects it could be someone from the inside. He's introduced a resolution to create a special investigatory committee with subpoena powers to investigate "a potential attempt to corruptly and criminally influence legislative debate."

He's calling for an emergency session to deal with the issue immediately.

Republicans have also scheduled a press conference tomorrow to provide more details on what they know.
