The maga'haga recognizes March as Women’s History Month amid International Women’s Day during a proclamation signing at the governor’s house Wednesday.

There a luncheon was held to celebrate the “Women Who Tell Stories”- members of the Guam Council of Women’s Clubs.

Bureau of Women’s Affairs Director Jayne Flores helped honor the 15 women's clubs.

"All of you are here because in some way you are an influencer or storyteller within our community," she said. "Whether it's through your organization, your business, your profession or just as an individual. Each of you in your own way, especially through your clubs, you tell your stories because you set an example to the young women in our community."

BWA program coordinator Ivana Nimea reads the proclamation, voicing their commitment to continue to advance gender equity and equality.

"Whereas this month, as we continue our work to advance gender equity and equality, let us recognize that fundamental freedoms are interconnected: when opportunities for women are withheld, we all suffer; and when women’s lives are improved, we all gain. Let us strive to create an island where every woman and girl knows that her possibilities know no bounds," she said.

The Women's Club Council celebrates its 40th year representing women leaders and empowering girls and women in Guam and Micronesia.
