GHC president says there's no funding source for Quinata's proposed housing infrastructure loan

Another bill's been introduced to address the lack of affordable housing.

Sen. Roy Quinata's measure would establish a loan program under the Guam Housing Corporation to cover infrastructure costs.

In a public hearing Tuesday, GHC President Edith Pangelinan says they support the measure with some changes, but like other programs already available, it boils down to money -- or the lack of it.

"We don't have the financial means and that's why our concern especially with this proposed bill, funding was not, a funding source was not identified for us to administer this."

The loan program would be for first-time home-buyers and CHamoru Land Trust leaseholders.
