Sen. Amanda Shelton is breaking her silence after the controversy that erupted at last Friday's Guam Visitors Bureau oversight hearing.

The hearing was canceled by Shelton minutes before it was about to begin. KUAM News spoke with Shelton who seemed unfazed when her colleague, republican Sen. Telo Taitague said this: “If Sen. Shelton wants to play a game with us—you know, then let’s expose her for what she really is, protecting her uncle at GVB–Or, I'll say that part."

"No, I don’t have any comments about that," Shelton said. "I think I exercised my power as the chairwoman of the committee."

Taitague's comment forced democrat freshman Sen. Will Parkinson to speak up in Shelton's defense - with this sign appearing behind him stating she quote - "did nothing wrong."

Shelton today said the hearing with GVB is still on.

“I will hold a hearing when I deem that appropriate when the parties are involved will be available, and we could have a really thorough discussion together that will be fruitful to helping improve our visitor industry and bringing back our tourists to Guam—so that’s my focus is as the chair at this time," she said.

It’s a step forward that GVB Vice President Gerry Perez is looking forward to—and ready to share the progress the bureau is making in recovering tourism.
