More Government of Guam pay raises may be in the works, this time for judiciary branch workers.

The governor recently proposed a 22-percent across-the-board hike for executive branch employees who are under the general pay plan.

During a judicial council meeting today, chairman Justice Robert Torres said they're monitoring the salary adjustment bill now before the legislature.

"I have some meetings scheduled with some key senators in advance of the public hearing that's going to be scheduled, although not clear exactly when," he said. "Our hope is to ensure that no employee is left behind as you know we implemented a 6 percent increase for our judiciary employees last year, effective this fiscal year. And a 7 percent for the law enforcement."

The plan is to re-adjust judiciary employee salaries to make them on par with the executive branch workers.

"We are still strategizing what's the best method in which to proceed but our hope is and our desire is to ensure that all of our employees are treated equitably and fairly and commiserate with what raises were provided to other branches," Torres said.

The Judicial Council is also reviewing a proposed 15-percent rate hike for public defender employees.
