A man is facing assault, abuse and family violence charges after allegedly threatening and harming a mother and her children, according to a magistrate complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam.

On Jan. 29, Guam Police Department officers were called to a disturbance in Maite.

When police arrived, they noticed a man, who was identified as Ben Castro Crisostomo, 29, inside of a truck, covered in blood, and was transported to the hospital.

Police spoke with a woman who said that she had allegedly hit Crisostomo with a hammer to protect the children.

She then told police earlier that morning, Crisostomo refused to let anyone leave the residence. He then allegedly picked up one of the children by the chin and threw the child as well as twisted a swing in the room, with one of the children in it, making the swing hit the wall. Cisostomo also allegedly used a pocket knife to poke the woman's leg.

Crisostomo also allegedly threatened to hurt the children and her grandmother as well as “green light” her which she understood as he would have someone kill her, court documents state.

On Feb. 3, police met up with the woman again and noticed she had bruises on her elbows, legs, and chest. Although one child had no injuries, Guam Memorial Hospital’s Dr. Von Trampe told police the other had red marks on their jaw and chest.

Crisostomo denied the conduct when questioned by police and said that he did not want the woman to get in trouble because he does not her children to lose their mother.

Crisostomo is charged with aggravated assault and terrorizing as third-degree felonies as well as child abuse and family violence as misdemeanors.
