We've got a second case where a parent contends his police complaint has gone nowhere. This father saying his teenage child was attacked by a school aide while on campus. The alleged incident happening months back. He speaks with KUAM today after seeing that he’s not alone in playing the waiting game for police to investigate.

Nicolas Ballesteros’ 17-year-old son is a student at George Washington High School. His son has autism. And he says this school year is going well compared to how things ended before the summer break.

"There was an incident between by son and the school aide. In short, the school aide slapped my son. What they said is my son slapped him so he smacked him or punched him back," said Ballesteros.

The incident unfolding last April at the Mangilao campus. The man accused of hitting the teen was a one-to-one aide with Guam Department of Education. He detailed, "I was really upset because I trusted the school to take care of him."

Ballesteros says he learned the employee has since been let go – but his assault complaint with the Guam Police Department hasn’t moved since then.

"I went there three times in May and June," said the father. "Every time I go there, they make me wait for five minutes and they were searching for the guy that has my case. After that they said we will call you back."

He says they never called back, adding, "It’s like they can’t even respond that they are working on it. After that I just keep on calling but what’s the use of that 475-number for them if they don’t even answer."

After visits to the police headquarters resulted in zero updates on his son’s case, he reached out to the Attorney General’s Office. But, he says the AG’s investigators then told him they never got the case from police.

"They always say to make them do their job and don’t put the law in my hands. But it’s been over nine months and until now nothing," he said.

This upset dad now left wondering if anything will ever get done, saying, "I try not to put it in my mind but it’s like what is going on with the law. This is a simple investigation because on the report, the school aide admitted what he did and apologized. So, what’s going on."

It's a question that even to this day goes unanswered.

Police spokesperson Officer Berlyn Savella only able to confirm with KUAM the assault complaint was taken. She declined to release any details only stating the case remains under investigation.
