Some residents on Rota were without water for three days, from January 11 to 13. "In most parts of the island...such as Songsong and areas further way from Sinapalo. Some areas had very low water pressure to no water," Ivan Mereb, the mayor's office PIO told KUAM Monday. He says water pressure is restored while Rota is on a precautionary boil water notice.

On January 12 students in the Public School System were not able to report to school due to a water service interruption on Rota. In that same notice, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation warned residents that there could be low water pressure or no water at all as they isolated the water supply to prevent turbid water from entering the system during heavy rain.

Over the weekend CUC says its staff has been analyzing turbidity samples 24 hours a day since the start of stormy weather. they've also activated an emergency groundwater well to provide water to customers. According to a media release over the weekend, "customers in the high elevations may experience low water pressure and are encouraged to fill their water tanks."

CUC encourages those with concerns or questions to call their hotline at 670-236-4333.
