It was back to school for Guam Department of Education schools today.
But the return from the holiday break was different at Okkodo High in Dededo.
Teachers and staff from F.B. Leon Guerrero middle were on overdrive, making sure sixth graders got to class without issue.
The middle schoolers are now sharing a campus with Okkodo High, as both begin double session.
"So far, it’s looking great," FBLG Principal Melissa Mafnas. The drop-off and everything is smooth. The busses are coming in, we’re just trying to get with Okkodo’s traffic to make sure transition and drop-off is as smooth as possible and greeting our students."

Once all the high schoolers leave, the middle school students come in.
"We’re going to have an assembly this morning to set their expectations and see how that goes," FBLG Principal Melissa Mafnas said. "Give them their schedules, the directions. All my staff is on board and we should be ready to go to help them go to their classes and transition today."
FB's seventh graders start classes tomorrow, while the eighth graders start Monday.
This will be the norm until their Yigo campus gets its much needed repairs.
Guam Education Board Vice Chair Maria Gutierrez was there overseeing the transition and praising the leadership at both schools.

"I’m very proud of the Okkodo administration because everything went smooth," she said. "The car riders, walkers, bus riders were well organized and then after they were all gone, here’s now FB Leon Guerrero and what I’m seeing now, is the leadership of both schools."
School staff is tasked to guide the students and keep the two schools from crossing paths.
"This is what I look at as a board member, is the leadership of the schools and there’s no problem," Gutierrez said. "I was standing there, there was no problems. No parents complaining, students are so happy."
Walking around, we saw the eager faces, students waiting to start classes and reconnecting with their friends.
