A classroom filled with toys nearly emptied. They were donations for the children in need this holiday season.

The theft occurred at Okkodo High School over the holiday weekend.

Thieves - or in this case - a grinch - targeted a specific classroom getting away with equipment used by the school's Marine Corps JROTC students.

"The perpetrators came straight into my storage area, accessed my armory and took four high-powered pellet rifles that are used for the students to qualify for shooting competitions, along with other items," Instructor Sgt. Maj. Vincent Santiago told KUAM News.

Supplies weren't the only things taken.

"The sad thing is about five hundred toys were taken. My cadets, for the past five weeks, have been at Guam Premier Outlets collecting toys from the public here on Guam from donations, for the Toys for Tots drive for those children and those families who don’t have the means to purchase toys this holiday season, the Christmas timeframe," Santiago said.

The theft, however, isn't ruining their holiday spirits.

The JROTC students are still managing to donate more than a thousand toys for the drive.

The Guam Police Department reports that officers are investigating and are searching for the culprits.

Santiago said he's confident that those responsible will be caught.

"You not only impacted this program, but you impacted the future of our island," he said. "So if you’re looking to do the right thing, turn the equipment in and GPD. I’m confident GPD and our local community, we’ll find you. We’ll find you. But it’s sad. It’s sad that you would stoop to that level to take from the future of our island."
