‘He threatened my life’. That’s what Janus Tabbada allegedly told a witness when asked why he shot and killed Edward Bamba outside of a Yigo home earlier this month. Tabbada officially facing murder charges in local court.

He's being kept locked up on a quarter of a million dollar cash bail.

It was the passenger in the getaway car – a silver ford taurus – that confessed to guam police who pulled the trigger, shooting and killing edward bamba.

According to court documents, the passenger saying he was with 30-year-old Janus Tabbada on November 12th when they pulled up to this home on Chalan Eskuela. Tabbada telling him he was there to meet someone at the house.

The passenger suddenly hearing two shots fired before seeing Bamba fall to the ground. The passenger allegedly admitted to authorities he asked Tabbada why he shot Bamba. Tabbada saying, “he threatened my life,” documents state.

Bamba died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Police say Tabbada and Bamba got into an argument over a woman both had an intimate relationship with.

Tabbada is charged in superior court with murder and aggravated assault along with a special allegation for possession or use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. He remains held at DOC on a $250,000 cash bail.

Prosecutors say he was ordered by the court to stay away from firearms, as he was on bond for a 2021 aggravated assault case. Tabbada also had two active warrants out for his arrest for that case along with a separate 2019 assault case.

Tabbada evading police for nearly two weeks.

Additionally, he is charged now with possession of a schedule ii controlled substance after police say they found nearly 7 grams of meth on him when he was captured in Dededo Monday night.
