Woman in alleged sham marriage takes plea deal

A woman who tried to scam the federal government in a fake marriage admitted to the allegations in court today.
Ana Liza Montanez Pelayo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit marriage fraud.
According to the plea agreement, she faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000.
Court documents state the case involves co-conspirators Sandra Valerio and Yves Pelayo.
Valerio allegedly came up with the scheme to have the couple marry.
Documents stating Yves Pelayo was promised a car in return.
The Pelayo’s agreed to the sham marriage in 2014 so that Ana Pelayo could live in the U.S. illegally.
No word if the two others face charges.
Sentencing for Ana Pelayo is set for Feb 16, 2023.
