The uptick in crime in a Mangilao neighborhood has left juvenile investigators busy looking for the culprits for the past month. now, two teens have been captured in connection to multiple thefts and vandalism complaints. The mayor of the central village and his residents today were relieved authorities were able to solve the cases.

Graffiti can be seen splayed on local stores and school bus stops. "I feel for my constituents," said Mayor Allan Ungacta. "I tell them the best thing to do is to post up signs and be vigilant, but it is very disappointing to know it’s occurring." This, along with thefts reported in the village, have left many along with the mayor keeping their guards up.

"We all should be that good neighbor and we all should be watching out for one another," he added.

On September 19, patrol officers were flagged down by one resident who reported being targeted by thieves. This led to several others coming forward saying thieves also hit their homes and apartment buildings - even tagging it with graffiti. The mayor stated, "It’s very unacceptable unfortunately like I said it occurs."

The culprits left their mark on mom-&-pop stores and bus stops. The Guam Police Department today confirmed that two teens have been captured. The first was a 16-year-old boy taken into custody on September 24 for theft of property and graffiti. Then on Tuesday, authorities took a 17-year-old boy in who admitted to his part in several crimes.

Police, however, have been unable to confirm the specific cases, saying it involves minors. The teen now faces charges of burglary, theft of property, and graffiti. Both have since been taken to the Department of Youth Affairs.

Though the mayor is glad the pair have been caught, he sends this message to anyone else wreaking havoc in his village. "If you commit the crime, I hope you guys look forward to doing some time," Ungacta warned.

The mayor is also encouraging village residents to join the neighborhood watch group chat to help deter crime. And remember when you see something, say something.
