Ken Leon Guerrero maintains stance, despite arrest

Republican senatorial candidate and longtime community activist Ken Leon Guerrero was arrested yesterday after refusing to leave a meeting held by GMH officials at the Hyatt Regency Guam. According to a GPD media release, Leon Guerrero was asked to leave because it was a closed meeting.
Hotel security were unsuccessful in getting him to leave. Police were called and after he still insisted on staying, he was arrested.
Police say he was booked for criminal trespass and released and the case has been forwarded to the Attorney General.
KUAM spoke with Leon Guerrero to get his side, and he said, "I have been doing this for fifteen years. I have been testifying in the legislature since 2010 on issues concerning Guam Memorial Hospital. This is nothing new. I did not do this as part of my campaign. I did this as part of my community activist role representing the people of Guam before legislatures, boards, commissions, and administrations making sure the publics voice has been heard, and that’s why I was there - to make sure those people in that room knew what the effect of their decision were going to be on the citizens on Guam and our healthcare system."
Guam Election Commission executive director Maria Pangelinan confirms his arrest does not impact his run for office - at least not without a conviction for the alleged crime.
Now, GMH spokesperson Cindy Hanson says it was not a meeting but a training session for about 50 or so hospital officials on how to compile and write a strategic report and plan. She says there's no single room available at GMH to accommodate them all. She did not know immediately how much it cost to rent the smaller conference room at the Hyatt.
Hanson adds that the public will be able to comment on the GMH strategic plan when its ultimately presented to the board of trustees.
