Help plant more than 2,000 trees Saturday

Join the Department of Agriculture's Forestry & Soil Resources Division Saturday for Planting Day. 

The division aims to plant 2,000 more trees at the As Gadao Reforestation Site, Manell Watershed in Malesso. 

According to Agriculture,  acacia trees and a number of native trees under the older stand of acacia trees on site will be planted. The division is working to convert the fire-prone landscape dominated by invasive grass species to forested lands. The acacias help to amend soils and shade out the grasses giving native trees a chance, once planted.

You also must bring a water bottle, wear closed-toe shoes or you will not be able to participate. 

You're also encouraged to bring a hat, pack a snack, and use sunblock. An umbrella also will be handy for the 2-mile hike.
