Calvo's SelectCare, TakeCare chosen as GovGuam healthcare insurance providers

The Government of Guam's single largest annual contract is now a done deal. The Department of Administration has signed-off on the Fiscal Year 2023 employee health insurance contract with providers Calvo's SelectCare and TakeCare. The new deal takes effect on October 1, and Open Enrollment is expected to begin next week.
SelectCare plan administrator Frank Campillo told KUAM News, "So this year we are chosen as the plan that will offer the health insurance plan. We're also going to insure the foster children program, and in the health insurance plans we offer three programs - the HSA2000, the PPO1500 and we also offer what is called RSP, which is the Retirees Supplemental Program."
"In addition to that, the Government of Guam decided at the very last minute to self-insure the prescription drug benefit this year and that also is going to be administered by the other carrier. So prescription drugs, drugs that are obtained at a retail pharmacy, will have to go through the other insurance company."
He also explained, "We are very proud of what we have provided to our insured community. We have over 12,000 members of the Government of Guam community that are insured with us. They've gotten used to the comprehensive medical networks that we provide."
Campillo declined to discuss rates at this time. We also reached out to DOA director Ed Birn on the overall costs and what percentage of the premium will be paid by employees.
