More Chinese nationals continue to get arrested following their illegal entry onto Guam's shoreline by boat. Authorities have arrested two more Chinese nationals who snuck into Guam illegally by boat from the CNMI.

This has been a growing border security issue on island. Over the last several months 9 boats filled with passengers have disembarked on Guam's shorelines illegally. Spokesperson for the Guam Police Department, Officer Berlyn Savella told KUAM News, "Today we have located two, Xiao Juan Sun chinese woman 41 years of age and Ganyui Li chinese man 49 years of age were arrested on suspicion of failure to acquire clearance requirements, failure to deliver a manifest to a customs officer and invalid place of unloading. Both will be booked and confined to the Department of Corrections."

Since June they’ve intercepted 71 passengers and have arrested only four, according to director of Customs and Quarantine Ike Peredo. He added, "Our entry requirements are very specific. It states for you to come into Guam you need a departure clearance from your point of origin. They don't have a departure clearance you’re also required to have a passenger manifest and if you have cargo on board you are required to report that."

Just last week, another boat attempted to enter Guam's shorelines. "They know already that we were waiting for them and they managed to turn back around," said Peredo.

The boat was later intercepted by CNMI law enforcement and according to Director Peredo there's been other attempts prevented by the coast guard. Police are encouraging the community to report any suspicious activity to CQA at 671-642-8071 or GPD at 671-475-8615.
