There's good news for the Port Authority of Guam, as the agency has received funding for its military readiness support feasibility and in-water infrastructure study.

According to release issued this morning, the Leon Guerrero administration secured $1.2 million from the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation, formerly the Office of Economic Adjustment, Department of Defense. This grant will fund the two-phased in water infrastructure feasibility study of all cargo handling wharves and fuel piers and develop the port’s military readiness support feasibility study.

It will also support the administration’s ongoing efforts to sustain and enhance the operational effectiveness, resiliency, and sustainability of the Port Authority of Guam, which is vital to Guam’s strategic value.

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero stated, " This is one of the objectives during my recent trip to Washington DC, where I met with Mr. Patrick O’Brian and Gary Kuwabara from OLDCC to discuss this grant proposal, and we are pleased that OLDCC agreed to fund this critical plan."
