In regional news, two dozen more candidates filed their nominating petitions for office in the Northern Marianas recently ahead of the November general election.  Edward Barcinas filed for House of Representative as an Independent. Jocelyn Kapielo filed for the mayoral seat as an Independent.

Lt. Gov. Arnold Palacios and Mayor David Apatang filed their independent gubernatorial ticket. Independent Ramon Blas filed his packet for mayor. Edward Maratita, Donald Manglona, Corina Magofna and Andrew Salas filed their independent bids for the Senate along with independents running for a seat in the House: Vincent Aldan, Roman Benavente, Shawn Kaipat, Raymond Palacios, John Sablan, Manny Castro, Marissa Flores, Delbert Pua, Ralph Yumul, BJ Attao, Joel Camacho, Malcolm Omar, and Juan Maratita, Angelo Camacho.

Independent Marian Tudela also filed for the municipal council. Francisco Cruz filed his republican bid for the Senate. NMI Supreme Court Justice John A. Manglona also filed his packet for his retention election.
