Dozens of island residents applied for a job at the Guam Plaza Resort and Spa's recruitment drive this morning.
A local hotel is searching for new job applicants to support them, now that there are no COVID-19 restrictions, and with the anticipation of the island’s tourism industry reopening.
The Guam Plaza Resort and Spa’s job fair was hosted Wednesday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They looked to fill multiple job vacancies, according to Nicol Roberto, the Human Resource Manager at Guam Plaza Resort and Spa, who detailed the occupations available.
“We are a studio corporation,” she said. “So in our corporation, we have our hotel, “Guam Plaza Hotel and JP Superstore; we also have restaurants so for those various departments we are also interviewing candidates to fill their positions. In the kitchen, we’re looking for cooks, we’re looking for stewards. In the dining area for the restaurant, we’re looking for waitstaff or hosts. For JP Superstore — to fill those positions as well”
With her temporary job term coming to a close, Julie Atoigue of Agana Heights hopes to score a job as a wait-staff/host with the resort.
“Since I am almost done with my project, since I was a temporary hire, I'm trying to keep my options open since I have my own place and I pay for everything on my own it would be nice to continue being independent and not need anybody.” She explained, “this is why [she] attended the job fair.”
For anyone who wasn't able to participate in the job fair, applications are still available for many remaining jobs.
Roberto reveals that individuals looking to apply are “welcome to come into our office Monday through Friday to fill out an application. We also have, on our Guam Plaza website, a career opportunities section where they could download the application and then email it at the same time.”
Applications can be emailed to [email protected], or can be dropped off at the hotel between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
