Saipan welcomes visiting USS Jackson
Over on Saipan, the USS Jackson docked on Saipan for ten days of maintenance and shore liberty.
Acting Gov. Jude Hofschneider greeted the crew and sailors earlier this week and met with Commander Brian Bungay. The commander led local officials on a tour of the ship In a media statement, Hofschneider said, "Welcome to Saipan, and thank you for opting to make your way to the CNMI. We always welcome port visits to our islands and I am sure you and your team will enjoy the experience of the warm hospitality of our islands and the activities that are happening with the Pacific Mini Games and our annual Taste of the Marianas event."
According to the Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs, “since its deployment in 2021, USS Jackson…[has] been operating throughout the region while conducting maintenance, primarily out of Apra Harbor at Naval Base Guam.”
