Island residents are adjusting to the new gas prices on Guam. KUAM News spoke with some locals about their concerns. Gas prices in Guam have increased twice this month leaving some residents with financial uncertainty.

With rates at about $6.50 a gallon, Islanders have to reach deeper into their pockets to afford transportation. Guam residents have mutual feelings about the climbing fuel prices.

"I don't like it, I mean everythings going up, too, so hopefully it goes back down or original," said one neighbor, with another adding, "The rising of it it's getting hard on some people. I mean this is Guam - we always make do."

There have been 13 gas price increases on the island since January. To comply with the rising expense, islanders explained that they have adjusted their lifestyles.

Another resident shared their thoughts by saying, "I have to budget everything now because just evrythings going up high." Yet another noted, "Well, right now you know we cut down on spending on everything. Ever since gas they raised it up we've been cutting down on spending money on whatever we buy. It's not like before where you can just go in and buy whatever you need. We don't do that anymore."

Meanwhile, the Leon Guerrero-Tenorio administration designed an initiative dubbed Prugråman Salåppe’ to assist residents with the rising gas prices.
