Wire cords are the missing pieces to the finishing touch of the Guam Community College and Guam Police Department's DNA Forensic Lab, after a few months of anticipation and push back. In an interview with KUAM News, GCC president Dr. Mary Okada shared that the facility is 99% complete. She stated that GCC is getting the final connections that satisfy the fire alarm.

"So it's just that final connection for the fire alarm system," she stated. "So there is some cable that is required in order for us to garner the significant substantial occupancy for that facility. So once that piece is done then the application for occupancy will be submitted."

Okada noted that after the final connections are made, GCC will move forward with the ribbon cutting of the lab.

As KUAM News reported,  the decade-long project will be located in the back, while the teaching facility will have classrooms in the front. GPD and GCC broke ground for the new lab in October 2019. A&E was funded by USDOI. USDA and GCC CIP Funds were used for construction.

GPD currently works with either the NCIS or FBI for help with DNA analysis.
