Guam judge to preside over lawsuit versus NMI Senate

Guam Superior Court Judge Alberto Tolentino was appointed as Judge pro tempore by Chief Justice Alexandro Castro in Senator Paul Manglona, Carmen Deleon Guerrero, and Bruce Jorgensen's lawsuit against the CNMI Senate after local Superior Court judges recused themselves from the case.
The opposing party has 10 days to file a motion to disqualify Tolentino if they believe there are possible conflicts.
The Senator and two CNMI residents are suing the Republican lawmakers in the Senate, essentially asking the court to intervene in the ongoing impeachment process of Governor Ralph Torres, because of alleged violations of the Open Government Act and "continuing improprieties" by the Senate in the impeachment process.
The Senate's trial of the governor concluded on Monday and a special session is set for Wednesday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m. where debate and a vote on the six articles of impeachment are expected.
