At the Home of the Tritons, Dr. Lawrence Camacho's job description is - literally - to help you succeed. "We have fifteen departments within the Enrollment Management & Student Success Division, which are aligned to provide the best student experiences, as their growth allows them to become tomorrow's leaders, problem solvers and designers," he told KUAM News. "This ecosystem of support becomes critical in our students' collegiate journey."

The U.S. Army veteran, who holds multiple master's degrees and a doctorate, has fittingly taken-up the mission of making the collegiate experience at the University of Guam frictionless, fulfilling, and fun!

"When student experience is heightened, we develop ‘Happy Tritons' who graduate and become influential contributors to our society," Dr. Camacho explained as the division's dean.

A big part of the challenge as dean of the Enrollment Management & Student Success Division is ensuring UOG's academic offerings, student resources and overall experience are ever-evolving and distinctly Guam.

He said, "My team and I strive every day to come up with innovative ideas to stay abreast of technology, changing societal trends, mixed with our own island wisdom to heighten the student engagement with things that they are familiar with already, but aligned with scholastic experience."

This caters to a new generation of learners who face a new set of challenges, with the dean saying, "These students are digital natives who are focused on future career opportunities. So we must be good at convincing them that we not only have the excellent academic enterprise, but that our programs are designed to align their studies with career prep opportunities, like internships."

What's more, he's got a full slate of programs planned for future Tritons to guarantee their growth and positive contributions to the region.

"Our mission of Ina, Deskubre & Setbe - to enlighten, to discover and to serve - resonates with them and integrates with our vision of Transforming Lives and Advancing Communities of course inspires them to come and navigate the Triton adventure," he explained.

Finally, he leaves this inspirational sentiment about why now is the perfect time for prospective students to give UOG a look, and consciously make the decision that will benefit you the rest of your life. Because…it did for him.

"I came through UOG back in the 1990s as a parent with three kids; I persisted and eventually completed my degree," he happily recalled. I moved on and have now come back full circle with a successful military career and a continued lifelong educational journey. And this is what the University of Guam provides."
