Senators passed eight bills late Friday afternoon, the measures’ impact spanning from Humåtak to the new US Marine Corps base at Camp Ben Blaz.

Legislators unanimously voted to rename Route 3 to “Brigadier General Ben Blaz Memorial Highway”, passing Bill 273. They also unanimously passed Bill 202, which amends the threshold for limited exemptions on the BPT for certain small businesses.

Senators also approved Bill 212, which allows for terms and conditions for GPA to issue bonds to refund outstanding ones. Speaker Therese Terlaje was the lone vote against the bill.

Bill 170 appropriates $250,000 from General Fund excess revenues to Guam Unique Merchandising and Art for aid to graduates of their business program. Bill 172 appropriates $3.5 million from excess revenues to the Guam Preservation Trust for renovating and revitalizing F.Q. Sanchez Elementary School in Humåtak.

Bill 227 gives $500,000 in excess revenues to Veterans Affairs to establish a Veterans Bill of Rights to improve veterans’ access to housing and healthcare.

All three measures were passed by lawmakers, with Senators Joanne Brown and Telo Taitague voting no on each bill.

Also passed were Bills 151 and 194, which update Guam’s derelict buildings law and invasive species act rules, regulations and inspection fees, respectively.
