Camacho Ada team hopes to see better days

It's official: former governor Felix Camacho and Senator Tony Ada will run for governor and lieutenant governor on the Republican side of the ballot, and according to Tuesday's press conference, they will run unopposed in the primary.
In a unified front, former Governor Eddie Calvo introduced Camacho as the next Governor of Guam during a press conference Tuesday afternoon at the Republican Party of Guam's headquarters in Tamuning. "I'd like to welcome and introduce the next governor of Guam, Gov. Felix Camacho," he said.
Camacho, the two-term Governor says that he could no longer sit on the sidelines and watch the people of Guam suffer. "The island needs leadership, they need character, and with my faith in God, I believe that all things are possible. So I ask once again that you entrust me once again for such a time as this when our people are crying out for help that in this new season of hope and restoration, freedom will be restored and you will have a choice, the people of Guam will have a choice on leadership come November," he said.
Sen. Tony Ada will be joining Camacho along the campaign trail as his running mate. "This is where leadership begins, and this is what we're gonna do for our island is lead our people, our people have been looking for leaders, and their leaders have not been around. I have full faith and confidence and that's why I decided, yes, that I will run with Felix Camacho to be our governor because I know with Felix Camacho as our governor and the Camacho Ada team, Guam will see better days and better days are here to come now," he said.
Sen. Ada is a five-term lawmaker. This also marks his second bid for Lt. Governor. In Decision 2020 he ran unsuccessfully with former Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio.
As for Camacho, he served two terms as Governor beginning in 2003. During his first term, he served with former Lt. Governor Kaleo Moylan and former Lt. Governor Dr. Mike Cruz in his second term. Dr. Cruz has been Governor Lou Leon Guerrero's Chief Medical Advisor during the COVID–19 pandemic.
Additionally, former first lady Joanne Camacho confirmed today that she is retiring from government service. She was serving in the current administration's cabinet as the Deputy Director of Guam Economic Development Authority.
