The Guam Chamber of Commerce is again calling for an immediate rollback of the business privilege tax from five percent back to four.
Chamber President Catherine Castro issued a lengthy statement today basically recapping what she described as a "cataclysmic last 18 months for business."
The statement describes how the local government has essentially been able to function "business as usual," while it has done little to help the private sector.
The Chamber points out that the BPT increase, passed in 2018 in response to a loss in government revenues from the Trump tax cuts, was supposed to be temporary.
