It's week four and two more island residents were drawn to win a brand new car and $10,000.00 cash prize from the Governor's "Vax N Win " incentive program. It was developed to entice the community to get vaccinated against the coronavirus to win rewards including a new car and big cash prize to achieve herd immunity or 80% of the population vaccinated.

Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio named the two winners as 23-year-old Jericho Mariano and 63-year-old Tsukasa Fudo at Adelup Wednesday.

Mariano won a 2022 Hyundai Kona Compact SUV which is valued at $20,895. He received the first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Feb. 3, and his second dose on March 12.

As an employee of a medical supply company, Mariano understands the importance of getting inoculated against the virus.

"I got vaccinated to protect myself, my family and friends and anyone who I interact with," he said.

With his birthday next month on Aug. 26, Mariano said it's a perfect birthday gift. He works for MD Wholesale a pharmaceutical and encourages people to roll up their sleeves and get the shot.

"My advice to them is you never know what protection this vaccine would give you," he said. "So since I got vaccinated I not only do interact with a lot of people but I know I am protected when I go out. I just wanna tell everyone to get vaccinated as you can see you can win a car if you get vaccinated."

Tsukasa Fudo was the lucky man who won the $10,000 prize from the incentive program the day after his birthday. He shared with KUAM News that he plans to negotiate with his wife on how he is going to spend the cash prize because after all she was the one who registered him.

According to Krystal Paco-San Agustin, Communications Director for the Office of the Governor, 91,426 island residents have been recorded fully vaccinated against the virus thus far. This means we are 3.84% closer to achieving Gov. Leon Guerrero's goal of 80% of the island's population vaccinated or herd immunity by Liberation Day on July 21.

Two winners will be chosen every Wednesday until July 21.
