Parents looking to keep their 11 to 14 year-olds busy this summer can enroll their kids into the WestCare Pacific Islands Youth Summer Camp.
WPI is conducting a free, three-week summer camp at the Astumbo gym, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from June 28 to July 19.
While students not having normal social interactions with their peers for more than a year, Vice President of Operations Aja Ramos said the camp will be beneficial as participants can expect to be engaged in high-energy activities learning how to re-socialize and interact with other students in a structured setting.
"They will also be learning about different lessons from various curricula which includes adolescent pregnancy prevention," she said. "It also includes healthy relationships, communication, and drug and alcohol prevention curriculum as well. So they will not only have a good time, get to socialize and also be fed. You can drop them and not have to worry about packing lunch and all that stuff it will be provided. But they also get to learn critical skills that attend to their social and emotional; wellbeings and socialization with their peers."
The last day to register for the camp is next Wednesday, June 23. Slots are limited to 50 kids for the camp. Interested individuals can register online at https://www.westcarepacificislands.org/events
