Twenty-two-year-old Vance Jared Bamba was arrested and is facing misdemeanor charges of Assault and Family Violence.
According to a magistrate's complaint, on June 1, the victim reported to police that as she tried to leave a home, Bamba continuously struck her with both hands in the face while she held a 2-month-old baby. During the assault, Bamba also allegedly struck the newborn.
For a moment, Bamba stopped, allowing the victim to sit on a bed but then allegedly began striking her again in the face, according to court documents. The victim was eventually able to leave when Bamba fell asleep.
When police inspected the victims, they noticed redness and swelling on both sides of the victim's face along with bruising and discoloration. The officer also observed a slight discoloration to the baby's right temple area. Both victims were advised to seek medical attention after an assessment by Guam Fire Department personnel.
The victim also reported that in May, Bamba allegedly slapped her in the face, pushed her, causing her to fall and then grabbed her by the hair to lift her. And in October 2020, Bamba also allegedly elbowed the victim in the face where she sustained a black eye.
According to court documents, Bamba reported to an officer of his "guilt and shame" regarding the incident and that he "made a mistake."
