GPA chief details investigation into staffers possibly participating in online gambling

The Guam Power Authority has completed its investigation into allegations that employees there may have been participating in online gambling while on the job.
GPA General Manager John Benavente laying the cards on the table, saying, "Our internal auditors went through the process."
It was in March when allegations surfaced via an anonymous letter to Senator Joanne Brown which was then forwarded to oversight chair senator clynt ridgell. The writer alleged online gambling was going on at the utility agency and the investigation should begin by looking into the HR Division. The author alleged there was gambling in other sections like Customer Service, Procurement and the T&D Division.
"First and foremost none of them are involved in a gambling scheme if you will; two yes they're innocent I'm saying innocent in the process trying to app and doing all of that they did not use gpa personnel equipment it was all on their personal phones. Last but not least, they get - we do have a regulation that says utilizing gambling on government facilities is something to do action, so they have done that less than five people have done this. I've taken the action ive issued them a letter of warning," said Benavente.
Benavente adds he's also issued a letter of caution to all employees at the agency.
"To make sure they are fully aware that these type of situations are not warranted," he added.
As we reported other agencies were online gambling while on the job surfaced included the Guam International Airport Authority, Port Authority and the Guam Police Department where directors confirmed they were contacted by federal authorities.
