Guam Drug Court Month kicks off with proclamation signing

A joint proclamation signing was held virtually declaring May as Guam Drug Court Month and April 26-30 as Adult Reentry Court week.
During the ceremony, Judge Alberto Lamorena, III gave his remarks saying these treatment court programs are very important and valuable for our island residents because those who graduated have succeeded and go off and do well in our community.
"These programs have indicated that we have a strong positive rate and the lowest citizen rate of people going through the program," he said. "I liked to thank our stakeholders and I know the court likes to take on the lead in these cases but it's our stakeholders who do all the work so I'd like to thank and give this opportunity to thank each and every one of you."
Lamorena pointed out that the program has been a part of our island since 2002 and that Guam's citizen rate is one of the lowest in the nation.
Meanwhile, Gov. Leon Guerrero acknowledged that the need for this program is very overwhelming and says that she will try to get them the best help and services and assures that she and her administration will work to put an end to this epidemic.
