Allegations of a kickback while working at GVB, a history of gambling, frequenting underground gambling events, a discrepancy with a financial disclosure report with the Guam Election Commission, and using senatorial funds for campaign ads are the focus of an ethics complaint filed by Joseph F. Cruz against Senator Telo Taitague.

Cruz submitted the complaint to Speaker Therese Terlaje requesting and Ethics investigation and ultimately recommend her removal from office. Make sure to watch "The Link" Tuesday morning as the republican lawmaker will address the issue.

In a statement issued by the republican lawmaker she believes the complaint is yet another effort by critics to discredit her straight talk, no-nonsense approach to dealing with issues including special interest legislation, potential illegal drug activity and questionable hiring practices in GovGuam - and legislation benefiting members of the legislature and their families.

Senator Taitague says every citizen has a right to file a complaint, and that she is prepared to answer questions and respond to any investigation by the legislature. She calls the allegations baseless and "will not be intimidated by these politically orchestrated moves to silence me".

“Every citizen has the right to register a complaint against an elected official if they suspect illegal activity. I can assure the People of Guam that everything in the ethics complaint filed against me is baseless. I take these allegations seriously and I am prepared to answer questions and respond to any investigation by the legislature.

The People of Guam didn’t elect me to turn a blind eye to questionable activity in their government. I will not stop asking the hard questions of our public officials and I will not be intimidated by these politically orchestrated moves to silence me.”
