Military and civic duty honors are being bestowed upon Adolf Sgambelluri this morning in Piti at Veterans Cemetery, just down the road from his home on Nimitz Hill. The retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps and former chief of the Guam Police Department was laid to rest, with his urn being entombed alongside the scores of those who nobly took up arms in defense of freedom and liberty.

Many of Sgambelluri's fellow Marines, including those from the 3rd Marine Division, in addition to policemen and colleagues from his long and distinguished career, came to gratefully pay their respects to his family.

A civilian funeral was held for Sgambelluri last Saturday at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Agana Heights.

The memorial ceremony was also carried on Zoom, with dozens of loved ones and brothers-in-arms joining from all over the world to say goodbye and thank you.
