It's been in the making for many, many years, and now, under the Farmers' Corporation Association of Guam (FCAG) over 60 of our island's farmers have an establishment to sell their products five days a week. The FCGAG celebrated the soft opening of their store back in November.

GCAG's Dio Sapinoso says it's been a driving force for promotion development and relations of growth in the agriculture industry. "Under the new president, Mike Aguon, he gave us the green light to actually do the designs and create a new store so we actually used all remnants and pallets and we created a really beautiful and sustainable store," he said.

With only two-and-a-half months to put the store together, the team collected remnants recycled through a restaurant and hand-picked pallets from throughout the island. Sapinoso says the store is still in its baby stages, however, this now gives the FCAG the opportunity to continue to raise up local farmers, as well as give the community fresh produce, straight from home, providing a more sustainable food security.

"We can't rely on you know imports so we need to start off with the garden. Right now, this pandemic actually helped the island, I believe, because majority of the island now are they're actually gardening or farming," he explained.
