Defense counsels and prosecutors with continued ongoing jury trials appeared for a status hearing in Chief Judge Frances Tydingco Gatewood's courtroom.
Her Honor stating to both parties that the court remains in Court Condition of Readiness 1 (CCOR1) tracking the Government of Guam's pandemic condition of readiness 1 which has been extended for another 30 days. Additionally, the court presented statistics from polls sent out to jurors expressing a huge discomfort level with returning into the District Court for trial.
Criminal trials that have been continued include drug defendant Mark Mayo, whose trial was set to begin in August. Mayo's attorney John Mantanona told the court his client is pushing to go to trial as soon as possible.
The court set new "placeholder" trial dates to occur in December.
