Both on pretrial release, Jeremy James Laitan Cruz, 35, and Valene Castro Cruz, 26, were arrested again when they were found with drugs during a traffic stop.

The first of the stops were made on July 3 where police lost sight of the Honda driven by Jeremy Cruz with Valene Cruz as his passenger. According to court documents, when police found the car again, Valene Cruz was driving and Cruz had run off. Police conducted a search and found baggies with suspected meth inside the car with an improvised pipe. Valene Cruz said Jeremy Cruz left the items when he ran. Also, police noted the Honda's license plate belonged to another vehicle.

On July 22, the pair were passengers in a car that was pulled over. Police found a glass pipe with suspected meth residue on Valene Cruz and a cut straw containing suspected meth. Jeremy Cruz said the driver of the car handed the items to him during the stop, according to court documents.

Also, Valene Cruz told police Jeremy Cruz ran off during the July 3 incident because he had the drug "ice" on him. Jeremy Cruz said he knew the car's license plates were fraudulent and he told police to "arrest me for everything, the drugs and the plates," court documents state.

At the time of the arrest, Jeremy and Valene Cruz were both on pretrial release for two cases each.

Both were charged with Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance with a notice of Commission of a Felony While on Felony Release.

Jeremy Cruz also was charged with Vehicle Without Identification.
