Ann Marie Arceo is no longer the President of the Department Of CHamoru Affairs.
Arceo told KUAM she has accepted a position with the Kumision I Fino' CHamoru as the head of its new CHamoru Language Revitalization Division. She added she will "lead and build" the division to focus on revitalizing Guam's indigenous tongue.
At DCA Arceo has been replaced by former Guam Public Library System Director Arlene Santos. Santos had been the acting director of public libraries. The library board had received almost 20 letters from staff complaining about her leadership. Santos had gone through two separate 90-day acting appointments at GPLS, but the board never officially hired her on and her salary was paid through the Governor's Office.
As for who is in charge of the libraries, Governor's Press Secretary Krystal Paco San Agustin says no one has been appointed to the position, which requires a Masters Degree in Library Science.
