The Guam Police Department has launched a death investigation following a shooting that occurred this afternoon in central Guam


Yellow tape cordoned off this area in Agana Heights. 

"Shortly before 2:30 p.m. our officers from the Central Precinct Command received a call of a possible shooting 10 within a Tutujan area 16 a check was made and they responded to a home they made a check of the home," Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao said. "At that time they discovered a lifeless male with where we’re estimating at this time to be between his late 30’s or early 40’s."

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were activated along with GPD Forensic Science Division and crime scene investigators. Tapao says a person of interest is currently being questioned.

 

"We have him we will not disclose any other information right now he is with our detectives right now relative to this investigation," he said. 

Currently, GPD can only classify the case as a death investigation and cannot officially determine whether foul play was involved.

"With these cases, the determining factor and causation of death will be decided by a pathologist once an autopsy has been performed," Tapao said.
