We still don't know where members from a military unit with COVID-19 may have gone outside of their hotel.

During today's briefing at Adelup, Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero was joined by Public Health Director Linda DeNorcey, Rear Admiral John Menoni and Brigadier Gen. Gentry Boswell. Thirty-five members of a unit deployed to Andersen Air Force Base tested positive for the virus and may have violated quarantine orders by leaving the Guam Reef Hotel in Tumon.

"Public Health is working closely with our military partners to do close contact investigation and we are in the process of identifying other locations these service members may have been," the governor said.

Public Health is conducting contact tracing and has requested more personnel from the National Guard and the University of Guam. DeNorcey said as soon as they get the information they will announce if there are any potential clusters resulting from the incident.

"If anyone feels as if they were potentially exposed, public health is continuing their community testing," the governor said.

You can get tested tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon at the Barrigada koban the community center, on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Agana Heights Mayors Office, and at the same time Thursday at St. Francis Church parking lot in Yona.

Menoni said they don't yet have the answers as to how this happened, so it would be counterproductive to speculate.

"I would like to ask the community to focus on solving the issue rather than trying to assign blame, Menoni said. "There are investigations ongoing, both public health and a command investigation which will shed light on how and why this situation happened."

Boswell said all the members of the unit have been tested for COVID and are being monitored at Andersen.

During the press conference, the governor said the incident will not affect the July 1 date targeted to reopen the island's tourism industry. The cases, she said, haven't affected the daily rolling average and hospitalization numbers used as decision-making factors.
