Eight Guam Department of Education nurses were released from their task to assist Guam Regional Medical City during the pandemic.

The nurses made a complaint with the Guam Federation of Teachers for working at a private hospital while being paid by the government and performing work unrelated to COVID-19.

According to GFT representative Robert Koss, the nurses told him they were "very uncomfortable" and he tells KUAM, "This situation unnecessarily places these nurses at risk."

GFT, GRMC Management, GDOE representatives and Guam Memorial Hospital administrator Lillian Posadas met on Saturday to discuss the issue, and further determine new placement for the nurses. GDOE Superintendent Jon Fernandez has been working with GRMC since this weekend to address these concerns.
