Andersen Air Force Base is serious about restrictions it imposed because of COVID–19 – and one Guam National Guard member has the ticket to prove it.

A Guard member recently back from deployment was given a ticket for filling gas containers at Andersen. He paid for the gas, but it appears – according to Andersen-- the guard member violated new rules put in place at the base.

Andersen spokesman Staff Sgt. Divine Cox told KUAM, "Per our base restriction policy due to COVID–19, National Guard members on Title 10 orders are allowed. No Title 10 orders are restricted to Saturday and Sunday only on this time."

While witnesses told us Brigadier General Gentry Boswell instructed base security to arrest the Guardsman, Cox said that wasn't the case.

"No one was apprehended by the general," he said. "A National Guard member violated the general's base restriction policy and was seen filling up 3 5–gallon fuel cans. One fuel can per person per day is the limit. Member was given a citation."

KUAM confirms the soldier was actually given three tickets and a letter barring him from entering Andersen unless its for medical treatment. The letter was signed by Boswell. It is not clear how much the soldier was fined.
