Seventeen-year-old Haven Gail French requested to be released on personal recognizance because he does not have the $20,000 cash bail amount.

Earlier this month, French was arrested after a beat down that occurred at a bus stop in Dededo.

He was the only Tiyan High School student charged as an adult with second and third-degree felony counts of aggravated assault both with a special allegation of vulnerable victim.

According to court documents, defense counsel William Bischoff argues French is not a flight risk, because he lives with his mother and she is anxious to get him home. Further, defense argues the teenager does not have prior history of violence, and that the alleged victim was not seriously injured.

French is confined at the Department of Youth Affairs.
