The family of murder victim Juan Aguon said they hope the formation of a new multiagency crimefighting task force will lead to a break in the unsolved murder case.

Nadine Aguon Valino, Juan Aguon's sister, tells KUAM "with the new police task force they have assembled we are hoping and praying they're adding these resources to the criminal investigation division to help solve my brother's murder. The murderer is still out there and we don't feel safe, Guam is not safe. We want justice for my brother Juan."

The Guam Police Department formed the task force weeks ago as an immediate solution to the shortage of police officers, and to aid in conducting follow-up investigations.

Aguon's family had expressed frustration at a lack of communication from GPD about the case. They say a police detective told them there are still no leads in the case. Aguon was shot in front of his Mangilao home in the early morning hours of Dec. 11.

If you have information on the Aguon murder, please call GPD dispatch at 472-8911 or leave a tip at guam.crimestoppers.web.
