Joan first joined the KUAM News team in May of 2010 as Associate News Producer. Prior to that, she was a radio personality for three years, hosting "The Morning Show with Joan" every weekday from 6-10am on FM104.3, a station, which specialized in her favorite genre of music- old school. She was the voice that got listeners going as they made their daily commute to work, school, and home.

She attended the University of Guam where she was a Communications major with a concentration in journalism. Joan was a writer for Triton's Call- the University's newspaper for three semesters. She was also a freelance writer and photographer, regularly contributing to various print media such as Pacific Daily News, Guam and Marianas Business Journal, Marine Drive Magazine, and GU.

In April of 2011, Joan added Host and Producer to her accomplishments, with the premiere of the weekly evening show, "In the Mix." The show featured everything Guam- from music, art, food, events and so much more. The show  served as a launching pad for various restaurants and musical artists.

Making one of the hardest decisions she has ever had to make, Joan left in December 2017 to pursue working for the government of Guam. Feeling homesick, a year later, she would return back 'home' to KUAM in a new role as Senior News Producer where she assists in managing day to day operations of news, developing story ideas, producing special content and shows such as News Extra and Fistful of Talent on the KUAM Podcast Network.

When she's not working, Joan enjoys quality time with her family and friends, being a super foodie, 80's cult classic movies, and pop culture.
