A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for a new multi-million dollar cold storage facility in Barrigada for Pacific Unlimited. The company holds federal contracts to provide semi-perishable and perishable food items for the military.
Company president John Limtiaco said they're building the facility to meet the demands of both the defense department and local business customers.
"This facility will provide frozen, chilled and climate-controlled third-party logistics services, warehousing, and distribution services in support of military and private commercial customers," he said. "It is a state of the art facility and will be the largest commercial cold storage and climate-controlled facility in Micronesia."
Located in Tiyan, the warehouse will cover 70,000 square feet, with the ability to expand to 130,000. Limtiaco says it's the single largest project for their family-owned company since they started in 1986.
