The Guam Police Department's Motorola Smartnet radio communications system crashed at around 12:30 today. The radio communications system is also used by the Guam Fire Department. Police Chief Steve Ignacio told KUAM they are working to restore the system, which we should note they've been using for about thirty years. The Chief says however when it crashed they immediately deployed their backup communications system or push to talk radio to officers. As of news time, the system was still down.
