Just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, units from the Guam Fire Department responded to a report of distressed swimmers at Gun Beach.

GFD Spokesperson Kevin Reilly said one female managed to make it back to shore however another female was found over the reef by lifeguards, pulseless and breathless.

Autopsy results confirm the manner of death for 39-year-old Myoungshim Park was asphyxia due to drowning accident.

Rescue 2 personnel pulled the victim and the lifeguards onto their boat and transported them to Hagatna Boat Basin at just after 6 p.m., Rielly said. CPR was being conducted on the victim and was transported to Naval Hospital Guam. The lifeguards were also examined and taken back to Gun Beach.

As for the other female, Reilly says she was transported to the Guam Regional Medical City to be evaluated for exhaustion and minor injuries.
