Guam will be sending 6 athletes to Samoa for swimming. Since the pool has reopened the team has been training daily and when possible putting in work at the pool twice a day. Team Guam has been racking up those hours and yardage in preparation for the Pacific Games.

Chris Duenas with Team Guam Swimming told KUAM Sports, "Guam has always medaled throughout the year's at the Pacific Games so we're hoping to see some medals come out from swimming this year again and we have been doing some great work and thanks to all of the coaches and supporters for getting the pool open."

Benjamin Shulte took home a gold medal in the 400m Individual Medley at the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea with a time of 4:49.7. Schulte finished the games with 4 medals. Gold in the 200m Individual Medley, Silver for the 100m Breast Stroke and Bronze for the 200m Breast Stroke.

Duenas added, "The Pacific Games is definitely the top tier of the South Pacific swimming anywhere in Oceania and with the involvement of New Zealand and Australia that stage has gotten even bigger for us. Working up to it we have the Micro Games and all of the other swim meets in between and Oceania as well. To get to the Pacific Games and to medal there and to just even be there is an honor in itself.

Pilar Shimizu took home 2 Silver medals. Her time of 33.88 in the 50m Breast Stroke was good enough for 2nd and in the 100m Breast Stroke she finished with a time of 1:16:50 for Silver. For Mineri Gomez training both mentally and physically for the games is what she has been focusing on as she preps for the upcoming competition.
